GENERAL/FAMILY DENTISTRY

General/Family Dentistry is the important foundation of our practice, and maintaining your best oral health is paramount to your overall health. Regular dental cleanings performed by a dental hygienist, safely removes the build up of plaque and calculus on the surface of your teeth. Our focus is on prevention and our approach is conservative. Regular check ups, routine x-rays and cleanings keep you apprised of what is going on in your mouth and allows you to maintain a clean and healthy mouth. These regular maintenance visits often lead to necessary restorations and adjustments, or general dental procedures, keeping your mouth in the best shape possible. We encourage your entire family to visit us on a regular basis, including young children who can benefit from dental visits starting at a very early age. Dr. Marissa Schnelle particularly enjoys welcoming young children to our practice, making them comfortable and educating them about oral health.

PERIODONTICS

Periodontics is the dental specialty that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease. Deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) is often used to treat severely inflamed or infected gum tissue in order to maintain the health and integrity of the tissue and underlying bone, as well as to ensure the longevity of your teeth. We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Maryann Bailey as part of our team. As a periodontal specialist, Dr. Bailey is trained to recognize and treat gum disease beyond the scope of a general dentist. If one of the doctors sees any sign of periodontal disease in your mouth, you can be evaluated by Dr. Bailey in the comfort of our office, rather than having to go to a separate periodontal office.

All of these appliances can be made quickly, following an appointment to take impressions and a consult with one of our doctors. OTHER SERVICES

Dental Implants are a wonderful option when teeth are missing. Dental implants act as a root where a tooth is missing and prevents bone deterioration – ultimately, an implant supports an artificial tooth or serves as an anchor for a bridge or denture.  After an implant is placed by an oral surgeon or a periodontist, your dentist can then create and place the restoration that will fit over the implant and replace the missing tooth or teeth.  Whether your missing tooth is the result of periodontitis, tooth decay or an injury, your smile can be restored with beautiful new dental implants that look and function just like a real tooth.

Crown and Bridge work involves the long-term restoration of broken, cracked, decayed or heavily filled teeth through the placement of porcelain and/or gold crowns. Porcelain crowns are strong, long lasting and can also be aesthetically pleasing and used for cosmetic restoration of your smile when porcelain veneers are not an option.  Bridges can be added to crowns to 'bridge' the gap that may occur where teeth are missing.
